"Mr. Winston, you and your friend are needed again."
A junior officer was standing at attention in front of Winston's and Sans' quarters.
"Give us a minute. We'll be right out." Winston replied, eyes weary from lack of sleep.
After a brief time taken to ready themselves, the three of them headed off towards the undisclosed location that meeting was being held at. The trio proceeded until they entered the crowded conference room. The Prime Minister stood up after he checked if everyone was seated.
"Our reports state that there was a skirmish between the Irish Army against a small unit of armored 'monsters'. The skirmish happened yesterday, but Irish and British investigators couldn't confirm if the skirmish was related to the depopulation of that town two days ago. Well, the investigators have proven that the two attacks are from the same source. But something was odd about the two scenes that investigators have encountered. In both incidents, there were numerous strange piles of dust or ash scattered about the premise. This has baffled everyone involved so far.... any thoughts about this strange occurrence?"
The Generals, Admirals, and officials alike began to discuss amongst each other about various theories that could try to make sense of the piles, but none were able to stick to reality. Winston and Sans looked at each other for a second with raised eyebrows, but resigned to wait until everyone else had quieted down before Sans would share the information that he had.
After about 10 minutes, the group quieted down to the point where someone could speak clearly to the whole group. Winston gave Sans the nod, and Sans stood up and spoke.
"Ummmm...... I know why these 'piles of dust' are at both scenes, and it ain't a coincidence, either."
Sans stopped, embarrassed after everyone in the room turned towards him and stared at him with piercing eyes. But Sans continued, almost muttering at some parts.
".....heh. As I was saying, these 'piles of dust' as you call them, well..... they're actually dead bodies...... that's why neither scene had any dead monster corpses lying around. This means if someone had taken samples of the 'dust', they are really just taking a sample of someone's dead 'monster' corpse as a specimen. I hope that info helps you guys understand the situation a lil' bit better. Thank you."
Sans then sat down, and watched as the everyone in the room soaked in the new wave of information. After about a minute, someone else broke the silence that had filled the room, and the rest of the group soon began talking amongst each other once again. But now Sans' words had infected everyone's conversations. Winston and Sans looked at each other with grins, and the two then listened to the arguing and bickering that also filled the conversations that the group was having. The Prime Minister gave the duo a thumbs-up and a grin. Winston returned the gesture, and carried on about his business. Occasionally the Prime Minister grabbed everyone's attention and fed the group with new information as the the facts came in. After about a hour and a half, the group completely quieted down, and the group gave the Prime Minister a list of policies to enact as soon as the meeting was over. After the everyone had dispensed their ideas, the meeting was adjourned, and everyone left the meeting room. Winston and Sans walked back to their dorm that had been sleeping in the previous two nights.
"I have a question David."
"What is it Sans?" Winston replied, looking questioningly at Sans as they were walking back home.
"Do think that this 'war' will be over soon?"
"Well, that a hard question to answer..... if history has taught us humans any lessons, then I would say that the war will be a drawn-out conflict, even though both sides thought that war would end quickly."
Sans nodded his head in understanding, and the two returned to silently walking together.
"Speaking of history, do you think you get us a couple history books after we get back to the 'dorm?"
"I'll see what I can do about that Sans. But you and me know that we want to relax for a little bit after get back."
Several minutes later, the two of them entered their quarters. Winston read the alarm clock, which said '10:39 a.m.'. After noting the time, he laid on the couch on the far end of the dorm. Winston turned on the TV, watched the news for a little bit, and then left the dorm at about 11:00a.m.,.
